Mehrdad Rashidi (*1963) may be tagged with the outsider artist label. He was awarded the Grand Prix at the 16th Biennale of Naïve and Marginal Art in 2013. His works are represented in international museums and collections, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris, The College of Psychic Studies in London, the American Folk Art Museum in New York, the Collection de l´Art Brut in Lausanne and the ABCD Art Brut Collection in Paris.
But beneath all of these accolades you will find a uniquely and intensely tender human voice. An artist in exile, Mehrdad made his escape from his native Iran on foot in 1983 and his sublimely detailed creations sing the song of loss, of hope, of freedom and of love.
